The 1.35-meter “Game of Thrones” star accused the planned “Snow White” project of hypocrisy Monday on the “WTF with Marc Maron” podcast. The studio proudly revealed that it was casting the role of a Latin actress as Snow White and showing herself as a progressive – “but then they still tell the gossip story of seven dwarves living together in a cave?” Dinklage expressed regret in the interview.
The Disney studio said Tuesday, according to the Hollywood Reporter, that they wanted to avoid reinforcing negative stereotypes about the original animation. The statement said the seven characters will be portrayed differently. They will also consult with representatives of the short stature community.
It is not clear who will play the dwarves
The musical version is a direct adaptation of the classic fairy tale “Snow White” by Mark Webb (“The Amazing Spider-Man”). Disney studio had already given the role of Snow White to Rachel Ziegler (20, “West Side Story”), a Colombian daughter, in the summer. “Wonder Woman” star Gal Gadot plays the Evil Queen. It is still unclear who the Seven Dwarfs should play.
Since 2016, Disney has been planning a direct adaptation of the fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm about the beautiful Snow White, the Evil Queen’s stepmother and dwarves co-workers. In 1937, the studio released the first full-length animated film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. (SDA)
