In the United States, Walt Disney requires its employees to be vaccinated. In a notice, the entertainment company announced that employees who have not yet been vaccinated have 60 days to complete their vaccination. Disney is following the announcements of major tech companies such as Google, Uber and Facebook, which issued similar instructions to their employees earlier this week.
Disney has about 200,000 employees worldwide, half of whom work in two large theme parks in Florida (Walt Disney World) and California (Disneyland).
Because of the highly contagious delta variant, there is a renewed increase in cases in the United States. The US government is reluctant to impose compulsory vaccinations. However, on Thursday, President Joe Biden announced a series of measures that amount to de facto mandatory vaccination in the state sector. Accordingly, unvaccinated civil servants will have to wear masks at all times and vaccinate regularly.
