Diablo IV: Patch 1.1.0 with huge buffs, extinctions and fan frights

In preparation for Season 1 of Diablo IV, which starts tomorrow, update 1.1.0 has now gone live and has a long list of changes on board.

Few Diablo IV fans can’t wait for Season 1 to start tomorrow, but they’ll have to get used to a whole series of changes today. Blizzard released update 1.1.0 in the evening which changes a lot in the game, but at the same time brings new elements and aspects to the gameplay.

Apart from a very long list of bug fixes, there are many revisions. For example, Lilith Altars are now unlocked at the account level, plus card is now revealed at the account level and not per character. Moreover, there are some changes in the world rankings. More gold and items dropped in world rank 2, while monster levels in 3 and 4 were adjusted.

Monsters will at some point begin to lag the player in a level (maximum 5 levels behind). This change does not affect World Bosses, Legion events, Hate Fields, Helltide, or Nightmare Dungeons.

Ranking 3 example:
If the player’s level is below 55, the monster’s level is 55.
If the player’s level is 56-60, then the monster’s level is 55.
If the player’s level is 61, then the monster’s level is 56.
If the player’s level is 62, the monster’s level is 57, etc. (from that point on, monsters’ level is always -5, until the third monster’s maximum level in the world is 70).

Global level example 4:
If the player’s level is below 75, the monster’s level is 75.
If the player’s level is 76-80, then the monster’s level is 75.
If the player’s level is 81, then the monster’s level is 76.
If the player’s level is 82, the monster’s level is 77, etc. (monsters are always -5 from this point on).

At the same time, the experience points of monsters whose level is higher than the player’s will also increase. There are also massive class balancing tweaks, which pretty much flip the existing meta. Many skills that are rarely used have been highly buffed, while the components of some extremely powerful builds are buffed. “These changes are necessary for the overall health of the game,” Blizzard said in a statement.

In addition, critical damage and damage dealt have been greatly reduced. “We feel that high damage and weak damage are often seen as difficult requirements for a successful build in Diablo 4,” Blizzard explains in the developer notes. “We believe this is a step towards helping more buildings succeed and we will continue to make changes to support this goal.”

The list of fixes and changes is huge The patch notes are complete You can read on the Blizzard website. In light of the nerfs, it holds up Players’ joy is somewhat limited at the moment And the whining on Reddit is huge, right down to claims that the patch screwed up the game. Blizzard plans to have another Campfire talk on Friday to shed more light on the background to the changes.
