Day 3 – Austria and Great Britain score! – Hockey-News.info

The third day of the World Cup in Finland has already brought history and some entertaining games with it. Great Britain and Austria battled for points, while title-favorite Canada held a clean sheet.

In Group A, Canada struggled a bit against Italy in the first 20 minutes – the Italians took a 1-0 lead through Phil Pietroniro, but the reigning champions were able to score six unanswered goals in their second match. If Kazakhstan was actually shown against Denmark, it would have been much closer against France. In the end, the French team won 2-1 and celebrated their first victory of the tournament after losing their opening match against Slovakia. Switzerland had no problems with Denmark and clearly won 6-0. Six different federations entered the Schützenliste.

In Group B, Norway and Great Britain played the most entertaining game. The Norwegians took a 3-0 lead thanks to a brace from Mathis Olympics and a goal from Andreas Clovestat, but the Brits saved themselves in extra time with three goals in four minutes and then a penalty shoot-out where Luko Legionnaire defeated Michael. Hoga Norway scored an extra point. In the afternoon game, Austria clearly won by one point against the coveted Americans. Goals from Benjamin Nisner and Paul Hooper gave Rhodes-Weiss a 2-0 lead half an hour later, but the American boys had to equalize. New Jersey Devils player Luke Hughes gave the United States two points in extra time. In the evening match, the Czech Republic and eleven-time world champion Sweden clashed head-on. In the middle of the second period, “Trey Croner” was already leading 4: 1, with Rasmus Asplant scoring twice, 60 minutes later they won 5: 3.
