Cycling: Tirreno-Adriatico – Kämna second in the time trial

With a strong individual time trial, Lennard Kamna presented himself well early in the start of the Tirreno-Adriatico long-distance cycling race.

26-year-old Lenard Kamna, who wants to tackle the overall standings at this year’s Giro d’Italia, had to beat the distinguished two-time world champion Filippo Ganna of Italy after 11.5 kilometers on the Lido di Camaiore, 28 seconds behind Surrender.

In the German champion’s jersey, Kamna, who once won the junior world title, managed to improve on Monday (March 6, 2023) in the second part of the rain-soaked track.

Teammates Guy Hindley (Australia/+23s), Alexander Laso (RUS/+22) as well as Primoz Roglic (Slovenia/+21) were also left behind. It was only when Ganna smashed the highest time that a distraught Kämna had to leave the chair to the leader.

The WorldTour in Italy continues on Tuesday with the second stage over 210km from Camaiore to Follonica. The overall winner will be decided on Sunday in San Benedetto del Tronto.
