As Switzerland gradually reopens, Germany is withdrawing the emergency brakes to combat Corona. On Wednesday, the German Bundestag decided to take nationwide measures to contain the Corona pandemic. The new restrictions apply from Saturday.
This also includes curfews. This automatically applies to all counties and cities where the seven-day infection rate of 100 was exceeded last Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The value indicates the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week. Photos of the first night with curfews show empty streets – even in big cities like Berlin or Frankfurt.
The police have already checked
New exit restrictions apply between 10 PM and 5 AM. The federal emergency brake for the Corona first went into effect on Saturday night. Only those with an important reason are allowed out. This includes caring for a relative, caring for animals, emergencies, or, of course, whoever goes to work.
Outdoor sports should also be allowed until midnight – but only on your own and not at sports facilities. Early on Saturday morning, the police checked whether everyone was complying with them.
Ghostly silence
As Bild writes, the nationwide curfew was not particularly important in most major German cities. The reason: Due to the large number of cases, stricter rules about coronavirus are often enforced for weeks.
In Munich, for example, there has been a night curfew since April 14, and in Hamburg even since Good Friday. An eerie silence reigns over the famous nightlife flair around the Reeperbahn. (Bra)
