The swiss monster squad in EM camp is dwindling!
After the first four days of training ahead of the European Championship in England in July, national team coach Nils Nielsen has left the first seven players out of the squad. Of the 34 names, there are still 27 names left for the second EM camp stage that begins Monday.
Of the nine predetermined candidates for shaking, two to three could have survived the first slash. But Nielsen gave only the Italian mercenaries Vanessa Bernauer (33, Rome) and Nina Stapelfeldt (27, Milan) a ticket to continue the camp. SFV reported that they earned their spot with strong training performances.
The finalists go home
For Stephanie da Era (Seville), Elvira Herzog (Cologne), Sally Giulini (Gangan) and Tice Horney (Servete), Naomi Maggros, Nadine Reisen and Serena Jubil (all from FCZ), the EM dream has already exploded.
The fact that the finalists didn’t have a mental and physical advantage over Bernauer and Staplevelt, who already finished the season in Italy in mid-May, should not be an insignificant detail.
Nielsen will announce the final EM lineup with 23 names on June 21 in Zurich.
