- In Group F of the Champions League, Borussia Dortmund celebrated its victory over Newcastle United 2-0. Milan follows suit and defeats Paris Saint-Germain.
- Meanwhile, Barcelona were surprisingly forced to concede defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk in Group H.
- Atletico Madrid beat Celtic Glasgow 6-0.
- Obviously, YB lost to Manchester City 0-3.
Group Six: Dortmund is on its way to the round of 16
- Dortmund – Newcastle 2-0
Borussia Dortmund reacted in the best possible way after the 4-0 defeat to Bayern. In the Champions League, Borussia met Newcastle United and returned the English team to its home ground without any points. With the first goal in the top flight, Niklas Volkrug gave Barcelona the lead in the first half. With about 10 minutes left, Julian Brandt completed a quick counter-attack to make the final score 2-0. Gregor Kupil kept the goal clear by making some saves, while Fabian Schar also played at centre-back on the other flank.
With this home win, Milan also scored in this year’s Champions League. Against Paris Saint-Germain, Milan not only scored their first goals of the season, but also got their first three-pointer. The match started very poorly, and after only 9 minutes the home team was 0-1 down. However, thanks to the goals of Rafael Leao (12) and Olivier Giroud (50), the Rossoneri turned the match on its head. This leaves everything open in Group F: Dortmund tops the standings with 7 points, ahead of Paris Saint-Germain (6), Milan (5) and Newcastle (4).
Group H: Shakhtar beats Barcelona
- Shakhtar Donetsk – Barcelona 1-0
A surprise occurred at the Volkspark Stadium in Hamburg. Barcelona, which could have secured its place in the round of 16 with just one point, lost to Shakhtar Donetsk 0-1. Danilo Secan scored the golden goal for the Ukrainians with a header in the 40th minute. Despite many changes in the second half, the Catalan team was unable to equalize.
Thanks to their narrow win over Royal Antwerp, Porto are level on points with Barcelona in the table. The Portuguese took the lead after around half an hour thanks to a penalty from Evanilsson and then benefited from Jurgen Eckelenkamp’s sending off in the second half. Then Porto increased its advantage through Pepe in stoppage time. Thanks to the goal, the Portuguese became the highest scorer in the Champions League.
Group Five: A clear win for Atletico
- Atletico Madrid – Celtic Glasgow 6-0
Away in Glasgow, Atletico Madrid had to settle for a 2-2 draw, but the Madridistas flexed their muscles at home. After Antoine Griezmann made it 1-0 (sixth place) and was sent off by Celtic’s Daizen Maeda (23rd place), the match was decided early. However, the home team did not give up and increased the lead to 6-0 at the final whistle – with Samuel Leno’s fourth goal being particularly worth watching.
- Lazio Roma – Feyenoord Rotterdam 1-0
Lazio Roma achieved an important victory over its guest, Feyenoord Rotterdam, with a score of 1-0. The Romans also avenged their defeat two weeks ago against the same opponent. Although the Dutch were more active, especially in the second round, they had to return home without winning any points. This is because Ciro Immobile scored the only goal of the match shortly before the end of the first half. In the Group E table, Lazio overtook Feyenoord and now ranks second.
