Claire Spurgeon (25 years old) suffers from severe psoriasis. However, the British woman is very open about it and shows the skin disease openly on Instagram. She strips off her underwear. She is celebrated online for her bravery and inspiring sufferers not to be ashamed of illness.
But Spurgin wasn’t always so confident. For years, the Briton from Essex hid scales and spots. She was uncomfortable wearing a bikini on the beach.
“I was always afraid someone would point me. And they did! I was shocked by the number of people who openly asked me, ‘What’s wrong with you?’ I was so embarrassed at the time, but now I understand that they were just ignorant and curious,” she says. «Daystar».
She didn’t know she had the psoriasis gene
She has been posting pictures on social media for a year now and already has over 51,000 followers. “When I created this Instagram page, I felt like I didn’t have to hide anymore.”
Claire Spurgeon was diagnosed with psoriasis in 2017. She was 19 years old when she first developed the disease. “I was definitely worried. At this age, you worry a lot about your appearance.” You can have the psoriasis gene in your body, but the disease doesn’t spread for long until something triggers it, she says.
In the case of Spurgens, it was a sunburn on his shoulders. “This was the reason I had my psoriasis. The sunburn never healed, my shoulders got drier, then the other spots appeared on my body. Then they kept spreading.”
“You are unique and that’s beautiful.”
Meanwhile, the British woman has dealt with her autoimmune disease and is encouraging other patients on Instagram.
In a recent post, the 25-year-old explained why she posted pictures of her bare skin online. It’s not about posting “naked things”. “It’s about showing the unique marks on my skin. It’s about showing what it’s like to live with a skin disease. It’s about showing what’s real!”
Her contributions and openness are well received by fans. “Your site has helped me a lot in accepting my psoriasis body. Thank you,” one woman wrote. “You are unique and this is beautiful. Another comment says ‘Thank you for being real.’”
The psoriasis on her face bothers her
Spurgin only has a problem with psoriasis on her face, she writes. “I’m confident with what my skin looks like and I’ve accepted my psoriasis, but my facial psoriasis is killing me!”
She looks at herself in the mirror in the morning and is in a bad mood. But when she notices that others around her don’t even notice the inflammation and redness, she quickly forgets about her problem and goes on to live her life normally again. (man)
