After his first meeting with US President Joe Biden, Brazilian President Jair Bolzano drove through the American city of Orlando on a motorcycle with hundreds of supporters.
The right-wing populist president of the South American country led the tour on Saturday, with many participants dressed in Brazilian colors, according to videos. In Brazil, too, Bolzano is organizing repeated motorcycle parades with many supporters.
He had come to the city in the state of Florida to open a consulate. The area is home to a large number of Brazilians. Paulsanaro, whose middle name is the Messiah, also delivered a sermon at an evangelical church in the Brazilian community.
In the church parking lot, he delivered another speech to cheer the supporters – according to a report in the newspaper “Folha de S. Palo” about 2,000 people had gathered. From there about 350 motorcyclists took part in the 40-minute ride. Not only the police, but also the secret service in charge of the US president’s security ensured security.
Paulsonaro previously attended the US summit in Los Angeles and met with Pittsburgh on Thursday. Leaders of the United States’ most populous nations talked about deforestation in the Amazon rainforest and the upcoming presidential election in Brazil in October. Paulsonaro has ousted former left-wing president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. Like Biden’s predecessor Donald Trump in the U.S. presidential election two years ago, he casts doubt on the legitimacy of the ballot.
