Joy and sadness in Chemnitz: heavyweight Roman Friis returned with a knockout victory and won the German championship. Light heavyweight Tom Dzemski lost against her.

Roman Friis returns with a cracking KO

Cruiserweight Roman Fress returned with an impressive knockout victory. At a boxing event on Saturday (April 1, 2023) in Chemnitz, he defeated Magdeburg opponent Roman Gorst by second-round knockout. While Friis celebrated his 17th victory and premature 10th success in the 18th fight, Gorst admitted his third loss in the 11th fight.

Less than two rounds to a knockout

With a smashing right hand, Friese dispatched his opponent after 2:30 of the second round. And Gorst, who had switched from heavyweight to lower class, struck a heavy blow and was counted out by referee Andreas Schweiger.

With the victory, Friis claimed the German cruiserweight championship. A good ten months after his defeat at the hands of the Armenian Armind Khoksaj, Friis celebrated a strong comeback in Germany. Friis had already won a fight in the Czech Republic in January.

My wife always believed in me.

“I dedicate this victory to my wife Lena. She always believed in me,” Friese said, and added: “Now I want to be the world champion.” Gorst explained his defeat: “I wanted to strike and I didn’t see the hand. I’m fine. I have to think if I can continue.”

Second defeat: Dzemski was defeated by Dos Santos

On the other hand, light heavyweight Tom Dzemski suffered a bitter defeat. And the boxer from Gorzig lost on points to the Frenchman Daniel Belinda dos Santos.

After an intense twelve rounds in the battle for the European and European Championships, two judges saw dos Santos lead 117:111, one judge gave it a draw 114:114.

Good start from Dzemski

Dzemski and Dos Santos, both with 20 wins and 1 loss in the fight with exactly the same fight record, only needed the first round to warm up. Since the second round, the German has fought more, letting his fans cheer for the first time with a body hit in the fourth round. But then the slightly taller and conditionally strong Frenchman entered the fray even better. Time and again dos Santos led Dzemski in front of him.

Show that you are a man

“You have to go forward, you can’t go backward,” coach and father Dirk Dzimski scolded during a break in a run. Dzemski tried to motivate his son before the ninth round: “Now you can show if you are a man.” But in vain, Dzemki could not overturn the duel. Two final rounds open with one hand could not impress the judges either.

Dos Santos: “Come back stronger”

So Dzemski admitted his second defeat and shed bitter tears. While still in the ring, Dos Santos tried to talk the German down: “You can learn from defeat. You come back stronger. You’re a good boxer. Only today you were better,” Dos Santos said encouragingly.

Playoffs: Deer wins for you, birds

In the preliminary fights in Chemnitz, boxers from Magdeburg SES Boxing settled for all the celebrated victories. Middleweight Robin Reese and welterweight Marlon Dzemski won the final four-round bout of their careers. Both won early, Riss rival Bato Berkatashvili was unable to continue after 2:25 minutes into the second round. Dzemski’s opponent Tornika Gikashvili first tried to provoke Dzemski by making faces in the ring and then had to abandon the fight due to a hand injury.

One thing is clear: Julian Fogel defeated Ali Hesso.

After an evening of fighting in Chemnitz, super heavyweight champion Julian Vogel can look forward to the junior world championship. Ascherlslebener apparently demolished the Syrian Ali Hesso, who lives in Lower Saxony. In the second half before the fifth round, Hasu gave up. Vogel now has a title fight after 11 wins in eleven fights.

Adam Dean is also hoping for a title fight. The man from Magdeburg, who was supposed to fight Joe Smith in the United States in January and was not allowed to box because his opponent was ill, took an early victory over Ukraine’s Dmytro Vidas.
