The city of Bern has completed the planning of the large meeting area in the Marseille district. Traffic procedures were posted on Wednesday.
In the absence of objections, the measures should be implemented this summer, the city announced. The Marzili district actually has small meeting areas in Ländteweg, in a short section of Erlenweg and on the Marzilistrasse arm.
It will now be extended to all neighborhood streets between the cable car valley station and Marzilibad including Sulgenrain. According to the authorities, the planning was carried out in close cooperation with the Marzili and Marzili-Dalmazie-List Region Association.
As announced on Wednesday, the city will be testing a new parking system around Marzilibad this summer. Parking spaces in front of Marzilibad and partly at Dampfzentrale will be available for bikes from midday onwards.
Also, on summer afternoons, no parking is allowed at the boat wash point below Marzilibad. This is to ensure the safety of the “rubber boats” going down in a big rush.
The statement said the pilot test was the result of an agreement between the city and the objectors. Opponents objected to the unlimited cancellation of parking in Marselibad during the bathing period.
