Albert Einstein (1879-1955), Udo Jurgens (1934-2014) and Tina Turner (82): Only a few Swiss-born personalities have ever had their own wax sculpture in the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. Now Schweese hit star Beatrice Egli (34) has been given that great honor.
“You were right next to me,” the musician joked after unveiling at Madame Tussauds Berlin. “I was speechless when the curtain came down and I got my first glimpse of my own picture. I know how passionately and precisely the artists work on the waxwork.”
More than 3000 working hours for a 40 kg eagle body
The numbers are impressive: for six months, more than 20 artists worked nearly 3,000 hours on the 40-kilogram number for the 2013 “DSDS” winner. Egli sat for four hours at the start of the form. “Over 200 different measurements were taken of my body and photographed from every imaginable angle.” Every freckle, every dimple made by hand. Modeling the head alone took six weeks, the Wax Museum reports.
Surprisingly, Egli is one of the few Swiss figures in Madame Tussaud’s wax museum. The creative Marie Tussauds (1761-1850) herself had Swiss roots and spent her childhood in Emmental. This story is a current project by director Anne Walser (44).
Egli himself wanted a picture with Leonardo DiCaprio
Egli has long defined itself as the traditional wax figure cabinet. “One of my first memories is a visit on a school trip. At that time, young Beatrice suddenly became surrounded by many big stars. And now my body is allowed to stand there myself,” she says proudly.
Egli’s portrait of the future can be seen alongside music greats such as Udo Lindenberg (76), David Bowie (1947-2016), and Helene Fischer (37). The number is impressive: “I am very happy with the result and I am happy that it shines so much and that everyone has access to it,” says Egli proudly. “I can’t wait to see selfies with this character for all my fans.”
