Rain splashes in puddles. The grass is brown and muddy. Many Tents Underwater – Welcome to Mud Zone!
Make the most of the weather at Camping Hopfräben in Brunnen SZ. “Sure, the heavy rain is already hitting the mind. But we read a lot, watch TV, eat and drink well ”, said the German tourists Stephanie Besmens (66 years old) and Helmut Walder (68 years). The mood in the caravan of Nellie (82) and Ernst Gerber (85) from Bern is similar, here you can also get On a nice bit of rain: “Somehow it’s also romantic when it’s falling on the roof and you’re cute in the cozy car squat! “
Good clothes against bad weather
Katherine (61) and Rudi Steiner (64) of Langenthal BE are well prepared with their outerwear. Her credo: “No bad weather, only bad clothes!” Camping head Jean-Pierre Zelman, 62, feels the choppy weather at the cash register: “We currently have several overnight guests who fly direct. For our long-term campers, it’s just not inviting at the moment. But the guests there still enjoy on vacation.”
The situation is similar in Lake Wallen. Dutch tourist Leonie Borkamp Bos (37) almost made it to her home at Camping Gäsi in Weesen SG: “My tent is still dry so far, but if it continues like this, the water will be tight.” Despite the bad odds, she wants to hold out for a long time: “I will probably stay all season and help, this is the best way to learn German.” Camping boss Renate Hammers takes a pragmatic view: “The Swiss are strong. Bad weather is as much part of camping as sunshine!”

The accompanying program is easy on the nerves
At See-Camping Walenstadt, SG Beat Zürcher (50) of Frutigen BE plays with his daughters Anouk (12) and Malou (9) on the floor of the Uno tent. The day before, the trio was at the movies, and now they’re supposed to go swimming in the Alpamare. The camping specialist knows: “You don’t have to lose your temper because of the weather and you have to keep the kids moving with a good companion program. This works really well for us!”
The Taggeb-Gonzalez blended family also struggles with adverse conditions at the Tennwil AG camp site on Lake Hallwil. Christian Tajjeb, 47, had to improvise: “We’ve improved the cover and tent so we can stay dry here.” Even Kirsten Gonzalez, 46, enjoys the outdoors: “So you can just shut up, read a good book and just relax.”
