Ayaneo Air with Ryzen 5000U: a handheld device with Mendocino and Barcelo

Ayaneo’s new Air series is based on AMD’s Ryzen 5000 APUs from Mendocino and Barcelo and will be offered from $499. Like the Ayaneo Air, Air Plus, and Air Pro, the laptops are optionally equipped with a 5.5- or 6.0-inch OLED display and rival the new AYN Loki alike, among others.

Zen 3 and RX Vega or Zen 2 and RDNA 2

Steam Deck caused a lot of movement and, last but not least, a drop in prices in the field of laptops, which are mainly aimed at gamers. After Chinese manufacturer AYN recently introduced the Loki series with Zen 3+ and RDNA 2 or Alder Lake-U with prices starting at $299, Ayaneo is now following suit with the Air series. Compact laptops are based on APUs from the Mendocino and Barcelo product families.

The Air, Air Pro, and Air Plus also differ in the OLED screen size and the different associated dimensions and weight of 395, 410 and 450 grams for the three different models.

While the “Air” and “Air Pro” models are based on the Barcelo-U with Zen 3 cores and a Vega GPU, the “Air Plus” model uses the already tested batch with the custom “Aerith” APU in Steam Deck from the older Zen 2 cores and RDNA 2 GPU.

Windows 11, Steam OS and Ayaneo OS

All three models are delivered with either Windows 11, Valve’s Steam OS 3.2, or the internal Linux distribution Ayaneo OS. In addition, three handheld game consoles are offered in different special editions and designs.
