The US figure skating team is asking the International Court of Arbitration for Sport to hand over the silver medals from the team competition at the Beijing Olympics. The nine competitors have appealed the decision to suspend the presentation of the medal due to the doping scandal surrounding Russian sprinter Kamila Valyaeva. This was confirmed by Matthew Reeb, director general of the academy, from Agence France-Presse.

Valeeva, 15, won the gold with the team at the start of the figure skating decisions in the first week of matches. After her positive doping test was announced on December 25, the day after the competition, the medal presentation was canceled by the Executive Director of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Should you decide CAS

As part of the team competition at the Winter Games, Camila Valeeva is the first woman in Olympic history to complete two quadruple jumps. However, she wasn’t completely satisfied after her show, because even the fall casts a shadow over her impressive overall performance. (Teaser photo: AFP / Sebastien Buzon) © Eurosport
