Videos on local media showed the roof collapsing and part of the facade falling down. According to ABC, the fire appears to have started on the third floor, said Fire Chief Adam Dewberry. The building is said to be an old factory that was to be converted into a hotel. Nearby houses were also evacuated for fear of the fire spreading. A parked car also caught fire.

Clouds of thick black smoke are said to be visible across the city in the afternoon (local time). Several roads in the area were closed.
