Actually a clear violation of golf etiquette: Hugh Brown, armed with a driver, hit his ball directly into the green 140 meters away, even though the team in front of him still had it. But the men’s group can’t be angry at the 99-year-old for long.
Hugh Brown: “Actually, I never went that far.”
At the Indooroopilly Golf Club in Queensland, Australia, Brown is the oldest active golfer. Shortly before his 100th birthday, he would go to the golf course at least three times a week, most of the time he wins in a group of men younger than him. He proved something through his hole-in in the fifth inning: “Where the ball is, I can’t see,” he wondered. Then the team in front of him shouted: “In the hole, the ball is in the hole!”
An unforgettable moment in his first and only hole in his golf career so far, he achieved at the age of 61 38 years ago. He gave me a local round that day, which cost him 15 and today is around A $ 455.
