In a friendly match just before the World Cup, the Swiss had no chance against the American team. They tied 1-1 in Edmonton until the 32nd minute, but then conceded four goals in the last eight minutes of the second half.

Six of the seven American targets to the bitter end came from the American first line of attack. Joel Henry (GCK Lions) scored Switzerland’s goal to make it 1-1 with a superb individual performance.

Quarter-final chances are good

After defeats against the top teams in Group B, the Swiss juniors will play against Germany and Austria in the next few days for a place in the quarter-finals. Defender Noah Delemont (Bill) was the 26th player and the last player scored in the tournament before the match against the United States. Joel Marchon (Zug) had to start his journey home prematurely as the Swiss surplus.
