Apple introduces iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 beta 5

iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 beta 5 are available here. The new beta includes a new Siri voice for Americans, an unlock feature that still works when you’re wearing a mask (not your Apple Watch). But you need at least iPhone 12 for this, older devices seem to be too slow for that. Also included in 15.4 is support for the Universal Control feature. This allows input devices to be shared between your Mac, iPhone, and iPad. Apple also introduces 30 new emojis.

Beta 4 also introduced anti-stalking warnings when using AirTags and other accessories. Users are informed that when they set up AirTag, this accessory will be associated with their Apple ID and will contain this personal information. It was also pointed out that tracking people without their knowledge is a criminal offense in many countries. Law enforcement agencies may also request information about the owner of AirTag to help track them.

But changes in Safari are close. Among other things, the upcoming Safari update will receive push notifications for web apps and support for AR/VR headsets. In the future, users will be able to select whether each website appears in dark or light mode. So far this has not been possible. In addition, users can decide whether or not a website is allowed to open pop-ups. This does not mean new browser windows, but modal popups.

iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 are expected to be released sometime in mid-March 2022.
