Alpine skiing – Schiffrin wants to start in every discipline at the Olympics – Sports

Munich – dpa – Exceptional American ski racer Michaela Shiffrin scored impressive goals for the Winter Olympics in Beijing in February 2022.

“I really dream about starting in every discipline in China,” the 26-year-old Olympic champion from 2014 and 2018 said in a question-and-answer session with reporters a week before the World Cup kicks off in Sölden. However, she also knows the intense mental and physical preparation that a fun-packed racing program may entail.

At the same time, the longtime dominator does not want to neglect the World Cup races. “Another dream is to compete for the overall World Cup win again,” said Shifrin, who finished fourth last winter. She doesn’t know if that goal is realistic for this season – “but I will do everything in my power to race on the podium in every discipline,” said the winner of the 69 World Cup races focused on technology last year – and set the competitions.

After the North American ski races were canceled last season due to the coronavirus pandemic, Shiffrin is now particularly looking forward to racing in her hometown of Killington (USA). “It’s just an indescribable atmosphere to drive at home,” said the 26-year-old. “I really missed that last year.”
