All Tesla charging stations in Germany are illegal
Handelsblatt writes, Tesla charging stations operate illegally in Germany. Customers cannot count on paying for the exact amount of electricity.
Tesla superchargers grab attention at every break. In Germany there are more than 1,800 charging stations for electric cars – All are illegal, Handelsblatt says.
According to the newspaper, which is investigating the “ICT for Electric Mobility” financing project, the electricity cabinets do not comply with the German standardization law. Because there is no meter that accurately measures the charged current.
The conversion will take some time
It is said that customers cannot count on paying bills for the exact amount of electricity. According to the law of calibration, the meter is required for accurate billing.
The authorities are aware of the existence of the illegal charging stations – and they clearly do not care, officials are quoted by the newspaper “Handelsblatt”.
Charging stations will now be adjusted to scale, but that will take time. “The retrofit of the fast-charging infrastructure is expected to continue until the end of 2023,” Katharina Boschi of Information and Communications Technology (IKT) says in the paper.
Until then, Tesla drivers can continue charging without any issues. (in euros)
