For years, Nassan’s Zakari-Radcliffe and Anush Assouri, both dual citizens of Iran, were imprisoned. They were now allowed to leave the country and return to Great Britain.

Two British-Iranian nationals who were imprisoned in Iran for many years have been released and are back in the UK. Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe and Anoosheh Ashoori, twin nationals arrested in Iran in 2016 and 2017, are expected in the UK, according to British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss.

In parallel to the negotiations between London and Tehran over the releases, the two sides settled a decades-long dispute over பொறுப்பு 394 million, or about 0 470 million. Truss said Jaggery-Radcliffe and Anushe Assouri will “reunite with their families and loved ones” upon their arrival in the UK.

Iranian officials gave Zakari-Radcliffe his British passport over the weekend, prompting hopes that his predicament would end soon. Prime Minister Boris Johnson also confirmed during a trip to the Middle East that a negotiating team in Tehran would work to secure his release. He later tweeted that he was pleased with the completion of the “unjust arrest” of Zachary-Radcliffe and Achury.

Tulip Siddiq, a 43-year-old British woman from Hampstead, Zaghari-Ratcliffe’s London home district, wrote on Twitter that she was at the Tehran airport. Siddique also posted a photo of himself smiling on the Jagary-Radcliffe flight. “Nassan is now in the air to escape six years of hell in Iran.”

Arrested during family visit

Zakari-Radcliffe was arrested at the Tehran airport in April 2016 after seeing his relatives in Iran. The British woman, who has Iranian roots, later spent five years in prison. He was later accused of plotting to overthrow the Iranian government. He, his supporters and human rights groups have denied the allegations. After five years in prison, she was placed under house arrest. At the time of his arrest, he was working for the Thomson Reuters Foundation.

Assyrian is a retired engineer. He was sentenced to at least 10 years in prison for spying for Israel when he visited his mother in Iran in 2017. The families of both countries have always argued that Zachary-Radcliffe and the Assyrians were victims of political persecution. Richard, the husband of Zachary-Radcliffe, has repeatedly called his wife a “hostage” in a dark political game. It is about repaying a debt from the time of the Shaw of Persia.

The long-running controversy over loans in the background

Force, a semi-state news agency, pointed out in a statement that the release of Jagiris-Radcliffe was imminent. The British government owed about 400 400 million to the leadership in Tehran. Before the 1979 Islamic Revolution, Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi paid for tanks that had never been delivered. The long-pending loans have now been settled, he said.

Truss has now said that the dispute over the repayment was settled with the mediation of Oman. This money will be invested “only for the purchase of humanitarian goods”. According to the ISNA news agency, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossain Amir-Abdullah bin Tehran “received millions” a few days ago. But the connection between the receipt of payment and the release of these persons was “incorrect”.

Truss said the London government would continue to work for the release of Morat Tahpas, another Iranian with three UK-US citizenship. He is currently being offered freelancer status.
