Great Britain is launching a second crypto sandbox in the first quarter of 2024. It is specifically aimed at digital securities.
Speaking at the CCData Digital Asset Summit on 3 October, Helen Boyd, Head of Capital Markets at the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), revealed that the UK Treasury plans to introduce a digital security sandbox by the end of the first quarter of 2024. Although the FCA is considered an independent financial regulator, it reports to the UK Treasury.
Boyd said the upcoming digital securities sandbox will be different from the digital sandbox launched by the FCA in August 2023. The FCA’s digital sandbox is designed to support technology companies in the early stages of product development, while the Treasury’s digital securities sandbox will include “new rules to allow new things to be done with digital securities”. The official announcement of Digital Securities Sandbox specifically explains the mission:
“Friend of animals everywhere. Web guru. Organizer. Food geek. Amateur tv fanatic. Coffee trailblazer. Alcohol junkie.”
