Major fire at Luton Airport – all flights cancelled
A major fire in a London airport car park halted flight operations on Tuesday evening. Two EasyJet flights were also affected.

As Luton Airport announced on Twitter on Tuesday evening, there was a major fire in one of the car parks in Terminal 2.

The cause of the fire is still unclear.

All flights, including easyJet flights, have been suspended.
All flights have been canceled due to a major fire in a car park at Luton Airport in London. As the safety of staff and passengers is the “top priority,” we have decided to suspend all flights until Wednesday, October 11 at 12 noon, the airport said in a statement on Wednesday.
Swiss flights were also affected
Passengers have also been advised not to travel to the airport as access has been severely restricted. The fire department said crews were working to extinguish the fire and trying to prevent it from spreading to other buildings. The affected parking garage partially collapsed.
Local emergency services said five people, including four firefighters, were taken to hospital. Residents were asked to “close windows and doors and avoid the area.”
Flights to Switzerland are also affected. An Easyjet flight to Geneva was canceled at 6:55 a.m. on Wednesday.
