Alessandra Keller, Jolanda Neff, Nino Schurter and Matthias Flückiger will represent the Swiss colors at the Olympic Games in Paris. The announcement was made late on Sunday evening after the final World Cup race, which was taken into consideration for qualification for the Summer Games, in Nove Mesto.
Shorter will compete in his fifth Olympic Games in Paris. The most successful mountain biker in history is seeking his fourth Olympic medal after winning bronze in Beijing 2008, silver in London 2012 and gold in Rio 2016 after coming up empty-handed in Tokyo. This will be Flückiger's third participation in the Olympics.
Keller is as good as set
While Flückiger's starting position was a bit of a surprise, Keller was in a good position. The woman from Nidwalden, who is participating in the Olympic Games for the first time, has established herself among the best in the world in recent years. In 2022, the 28-year-old won the all-around World Cup and short track World Championships silver. In Nove Mesto this weekend, she impressed with a win in short track and third place in cross country.
The Swiss squad is completed by Neff, who will have the opportunity in Paris to follow up her 2021 Olympic victory with another medal. In Tokyo, the St. Gallen citizen was victorious over her colleagues Sina Frei (silver) and Linda Indergand (bronze) and wrote the history of Swiss sports with this triple victory. For Neff, like Flückiger, this is his third Olympics.
