Football: Former world champion Sami Khedira ends his football career

Former footballer Sami Khedira of Herta Football Club ended his active career after the season. The 2014 world champion announced it on a virtual media tour on Wednesday. “It’s a tough move, but it’s the only right move.” The 34-year-old said, “15 years of professional football have made their mark.”

In his career, Khedira played 77 matches for the German national team, and he celebrated his biggest success in 2014 when he won the World Cup in Rio de Janeiro. Shortly before, the Stuttgart national won the Champions League title with Real Madrid after recovering from a torn cruciate ligament. In February he moved to the capital after nearly six years at Juventus, Turin.
