When Kelsey Smith, a Portland American, opens the nursery door of her son (10), she makes a shocking discovery: a strange woman lying in her baby’s crib.
Before Smith could do anything, the stranger threw a pillow at her and then ran out of the house, local station KATU News reports. At first she thought her husband was playing a trick on her, she said. But this was not the case: with the help of surveillance cameras, the woman was later identified as Lynn Z. * (54).
“I thought he was chasing a rat”
Z. entered the house because Smith had summoned the craftsmen for the day and left the door open for them. Her dogs were the first to notice something was wrong and barked.
I followed the sounds and saw the Labrador on my baby’s bed. I thought he was chasing a rat before I realized there was a human in there,” says Kelsey Smith. At the time her son wasn’t home.

Portland, Oregon, has faced a major homelessness problem for years. This is due to the high rents and high unemployment rates. The city is overwhelmed. In the past two years, the number of people without a fixed address has increased by 25 percent. They have long been a part of the city and its daily life, and tent cities are not uncommon.
Mike Schmidt, 41, the responsible attorney general, is not very strict despite the simultaneously increasing crime rate, which is also the case in this case.
Released without penalty
Soon after she fled the house, police arrested Lynn Z. Only 24 hours later, she was released without bail at Schmidt’s insistence.
Smith did not agree. “I don’t understand why you didn’t go to jail. It’s not harmful. You’ve proven it.” The woman is not a blank canvas: Z. was already known to the police for theft and harassment. (hey)
