Princess Charlene has been ill for a long time.
In the past year and a half, Royal fans have not only wondered who Princess Charlene (44) really was. During a visit to her native South Africa, the wife of Prince Albert II, 64, suffered from an ear, nose and throat infection that made it impossible to return to Monaco. But even after her short return, she had to take things easy and go to a Swiss clinic. In a new interview, she now talks about this phase of uncertainty.
“I had a very difficult time. I have been fortunate to have the support and love of my husband, children and family, from whom I draw all my strength,” the mother of Prince Jack and Princess Gabriel (both 7 years old) told South African magazine Anta.

Her offspring deserve her attention, too. “My daily life revolves around my children. The two were very busy with activities like sailing, courses on the marine environment, and their first contact with diving and sea rescue, she says.
Charlene pulled out of her job as a princess for about two years. She had already wanted to fight rhino hunting in South Africa in March 2021 and return to Monaco shortly thereafter, but an ear, nose and throat infection she contracted thwarted her plans. Doctors advised her not to board the plane. She returned briefly to the Cote d’Azur in November before being treated at a luxury Swiss clinic. Prince Albert stated that she was suffering from “physical and mental exhaustion”.

Since March, she’s been taking dates as a princess
Since March 2022, Charlene has taken her dates as a princess again. One of its highlights was the visit of Pope Francis (85) to the Vatican. “I’m very religious,” she explains in an interview. “It was a great honor and privilege to meet him. Faith has guided me through the difficult times in my life.”
As a counterbalance to her working life as a princess, she goes swimming regularly as well as to the gym, she continues. The future doesn’t look calm: Your year is “full and structured. I am completely dedicated to my current and future projects, but also to the needs of my children.” “And I will keep it that way for the foreseeable future.” (IMH)
