After criticizing its stance on Russian money laundering, the UK government is reportedly looking to cancel simplified visas for wealthy investors. The BBC reports that the end of the project, which began in 2008, will be announced next week.
Requirements for a pre-entry permit include at least two million pounds of assets in British investment funds and a bank account in the United Kingdom.
Opposition Labor MP Chris Bryant has accused the Conservative government of “issuing gold visas to suspected Russian oligarchs”.
