German soccer professionals Hani Mokhtar, Kai Wagner and Florian Jungwirth participate in the Major League Soccer playoffs with their teams.
Mokhtar came with Nashville FC in third place in the Eastern Conference and meet Orlando City in the playoffs. “The third place is relatively good,” said Berlin of the German news agency (dpa). “We’re trying to get as far as possible and at the end of the day we want to win something too, that’s clear.”
Wagner plays for the Philadelphia Union against the New York Red Bulls. Jungwirth faces Vancouver Whitecaps with Sporting Kansas City. The MLS qualifiers begin in two weeks. Final on December 11th.
Mokhtar scored against New York from a direct free kick converted directly to equalize 1: 1 for Nashville and scored his 16th goal this season. With a total of 28 scorer points, he leads the MLS and is considered a candidate for the Most Valuable Player award.
“After the season, it is justified. But we have a lot of good players in the league. If I did, it would definitely be an honor for me. But the most important is how far we have progressed in the playoffs,” the 26-year-old said.
