Summarize the essentials
- First appointment in 20 months.
The two met Wednesday in the Finnish capital, Helsinki, according to the Pentagon. At the first meeting since December 2019, Millie’s spokesman Dave Butler said talks were continuing to improve relations between the two countries’ military leaders.
The spokesman did not give any further details. So both sides agreed to keep the conversation quiet.
After the tumultuous withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, the Pentagon is currently on the lookout for extremist groups such as Al-Qaeda and Islam from neighboring Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. Stands (IS) can be tracked. Russia has influence and military bases in the former Soviet republics of Central Asia. In addition, the conversation between Milli and Gerasimo must have been about the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
