87:86! Chemnitz jumps to third after beating Göttingen

Chemnitz. Niners Chemnitz basketball players continue to swim in a wave of success. Supporters of coach Rodrigo Pastore held onto the lead on Wednesday in front of their home crowd against BJ Göttingen with a score of 87:86 (40:51) and moved up to third place. Niklas Wimberg (11 points) rose to be the match winner.

The Saxon crowned by chasing his team to catch the decisive goal and block his outstanding throw Gottinger Camar Baldwin (35) in the last attack of the visitors. In addition to Wimberg, Darion Atkins (19), Trent Lockett and Jonas Richter (13 each) and Eric Washington (11) took the biggest share of the host’s 11th win this season.

The hosts got off to a great start and took a 9-2 lead after three minutes. But the strong start turned out to be just a flash in the pan. Göttingen equalized the deficit after the first quarter at 23:23 (10) and moved away to 11 points in the second half. Although the Saxons got at 54:57 (26th place), after 34 minutes they were almost hopelessly behind with 67:83. Thanks to an angry final enemy, the Niners were able to turn the tide. The main scene was the Lucket trio making it 85:86 in the last minute. dpa
