Lidl has been giving Swiss food producers access to international sales markets for years and has been exporting high quality Swiss products to many countries. Swiss cheese is especially popular abroad, and its export volume increased again last year.

Lidl creates sales markets for Swiss food producers throughout Europe and even abroad, because Lidl has also been present in the United States since 2017. The company operates more than 11,550 branches in 30 countries. Lidl Switzerland also uses its international presence and strong sales network and has been selling high quality Swiss products throughout Europe and the United States for many years. Many Swiss suppliers are benefiting from these export efforts. Lidl Switzerland is pleased about the renewed increase in the volume of exports in the cheese sector, which has been achieved despite the challenges caused by the pandemic. This enabled the Swiss economy to gain support during the difficult period.

Cheese, which weighs 2,850 tons, makes up the majority of the food exported. But sausages, meat and rosti are also exported abroad. Swiss products are delivered to 25 different countries. Germany is by far the biggest customer in the cheese sector: 1961 tons of cheese crossed the border into its northern neighbor. Top-class Swiss food is also increasingly popular there.
